Trish began her athletic career at an inner city Houston high school where she excelled in four sports: softball, basketball, track, and volleyball. She earned All-State status in all four sports and later received collegiate scholarship offers in three of the four sports. Opting to play softball at the college level, Trish played her first two years at Texas Tech University, where she earned the accolade of Offensive Player of the Year during her sophomore season. At the end of that season, Trish transferred to the University of Minnesota for her final two years of eligibility. In her senior year, she was selected as a co-captain for a team that would go on to become Big Ten Conference Champions and for which she would be named a Big Ten All Conference player at the position of first base. At the completion of her collegiate career, Trish took a full-time softball coaching position at Central Michigan University. She coached at the Division 1 level for five years. During that time, she also instructed at a number of youth sports camps and played and coached ASA Women’s Major (Open) softball during the summer months. In 1990, Trish was named as an ASA All-American which afforded her the opportunity to tryout for the USA national team. 60 of the top players in the nation were invited to tryout for the 18 person roster. Trish made the team, and represented the USA as a first baseman and designated player in the 1991 Pan American Games in Havana, Cuba. Trish was the team’s leading hitter (BA .500) at the games and a Gold Medalist for the undefeated Team USA. Trish closed out her competitive playing career shortly after competing in the 1993 U.S. Olympic Festival where she was a Bronze Medalist.
At the completion of her playing and coaching career, Trish moved to Arizona where initially she worked as a personal trainer at a local gym while also working part-time for the Tempe, AZ School district coordinating activities for elementary age children. She then transitioned to a career in law enforcement. She worked with the City of Phoenix Police Department for over 17 years. Nine of those years were spent as a tactical officer, and at one point a"team leader", on the department’s SWAT team. Upon Trish’s retirement from law enforcement, she worked as a contract trainer/consultant as well as a public speaker on the topics of “Overcoming Adversity” and “The importance of having a Positive Mindset”.
In 2023 Trish decided to head back to her home state of Texas and the ball fields of the Houston area with the intent of reconnecting with the sport of softball and her true passion of coaching and training. Her desire to teach, train, and develop players of all ages is unmatched. She brings with her the expertise gained from her competitive playing days, her coaching career, as well as her "off the field" real world work experience.
